At Key Stage 3 students follow the National Curriculum in developing the knowledge, skills and understanding of mathematical methods and concepts found in Number, Algebra, Ratio, proportion and rates of change, Geometry and measures, Probability and Statistics. Students will be encouraged to develop fluency, reason mathematically and solve problems.

At Key Stage 4 students will follow the OCR for both the Higher and Foundation tier papers.

Our students continue to build upon their learning from KS3 looking at the core areas of mathematical study delivered by specialist teachers.  Students will take internal assessments throughout year 10 and 11 following each unit of work.  At the end of year 10 students will sit two internal exams (calculator and non-calculator) based on units they have covered.  Attainment in these exams, along with ongoing assessment throughout the academic year will dictate the tier that students will sit.

Faculty Vision

Our Mathematics faculty aims to mould young people into able problem solvers, logical thinkers and lifelong mathematicians as a product of inspirational and reflective teaching. Our passionate department aim to share their knowledge by relating Mathematics to real life situations, adding value to the subject and dispelling the negative concepts. We strive to promote equality and diversity by providing a parallel learning environment for all students, nurturing young minds and giving them the confidence to multiply their knowledge and increase their understanding of practical application.
