Mr Anthony D Hardiker, former Headteacher of Tarleton High School
8 May 2018
It is with great sadness that Tarleton Academy reports the sudden death last week of our former Headteacher of Tarleton High School, Mr Anthony D Hardiker.
Mr Hardiker became Headteacher at Tarleton in April 1994 and he served the school until his retirement in August 2011. Mr Hardiker led the school through many successful years pioneering independent financial management. He obtained funding to build and equip the Ribble Building and Sports Hall. He led a team that won Technology College Status for the school in 2004 and subsequently High Performing Specialist School Status. He received awards on behalf of the school for its continued academic improvement. Mr Hardiker saw the school through numerous Ofsted inspections culminating in a judgement of good with outstanding aspects in 2010. This latter result allowed Tarleton to successfully apply for Academy status following Mr Hardiker’s retirement in 2011.
Mr Hardiker will be fondly remembered by many colleagues, former pupils and parents for his outstanding leadership qualities; his determination to see Tarleton High School pupils achieve at the highest level in academic, sporting and social areas; and above all for his overwhelming enthusiasm for Tarleton High School.
He will be sadly missed by those associated with Tarleton High School and Tarleton Academy.
