Tarleton Academy retains strong relationships with our local primary schools. We work together with primaries to ensure the smoothest possible transition for our young people when they make the move to secondary school. Throughout the course of the academic year there are opportunities for primary school children to engage in activities here and experience Tarleton Academy first hand. These include:

  • English and Maths AGT Mornings throughout the year
  • 2 x Taster Days for Year 4 and Year 5 pupils
  • Primary School Swimming Service from West Lancashire Sport Partnership, including swimming galas
  • Invitation to a primary school viewing of our annual production in December
  • Regular sporting events across the year on our site
  • Invitation to Induction Days for those pupils who have had their place confirmed at Tarleton Academy

In addition to the above opportunities, one of our annual set-piece events is the Performing Arts Festival for our Tarleton and Rural District Schools (TARDiS). This is an opportunity for all of our schools to come together for an evening of performances in front of a packed out crowd.

The 2018 Performing Arts Festival took place on Wednesday 7th March 2018. The sell-out crowd were treated to a dynamic show, with performances from dance groups, singers, as well as brass and drama performers.

The 2017 Performing Arts Festival took place on Thursday 23rd March 2017 and was also a big hit, featuring performances from 8 schools and 4 performances from Tarleton Academy students.

TARDiS Primary Schools are strategic partners and key drivers of the Primary arm of Endeavour Learning Teaching School Alliance (TSA).

TASA

In the summer of 2017, a sporting subgroup of TARDiS was set up, named Tarleton Active Schools Alliance (TASA).

TASA was launched by TARDiS Headteachers and West Lancashire Sport Partnership to deliver fixtures, competitions and events for TARDiS primary schools throughout the academic year. Tarleton Academy is the host school for multiple events in the TASA calendar and provides Tarleton Academy students as young sports leaders to help in the organisation and delivery of these competitions through our Sports Leadership Academy.

The TASA events are split into two categories: Core TASA Events and TARDiS Trail Blazers. Core TASA Events are a programme of competitive, inter-school competitions and festivals for schools – where possible organised as fore-runners to School Games qualifier events. Such events include Netball and Football Leagues, Swimming Galas and the athletics event ‘TASAlympics’ to round off the year in the Summer term.

TARDiS Trail Blazers are active events, held during the school day, solely targeted at those who are reluctant participants or have not had the opportunity to participate in any other competitive inter-school event. Such events include Mini-Hikers and Treasure Trails, to encourage less engaged pupils to take part in new opportunities.
